Currently the Mayor of Ards, Councillor Drysdale has a lifelong connection with, and is an advocate for, the fishing industry, having spent 30 years as a fisherman. He is also an advocate for social housing. He is a member of the Free Presbyterian Church and a committed Christian. He also served as Deputy Mayor of Ards in 2006-07.
