Councillor Stephen McIlveen first took office in January 2011 and was then elected to the Council in May 2011. He is the current Chairman of the Development Committee . A qualified solicitor, Councillor McIlveen left legal practice to pursue interests in politics and social justice and has worked as a political researcher and caseworker. He is a Commissioner in the Equality Commission for Northern Ireland, has worked as a professional legal volunteer in Cambodia, is a keen traveller and follower of football and rugby.
