First elected in 1985, Alderman McCarthy is the Alliance spokesperson on Health, Culture, Arts and Leisure and is also a Justice of the Peace. He is also the Alliance MLA for Strangford and serves on the Assembly's health and agriculture committees and is Chair of the Standards and Privileges Committee.
