| Accessibility: 31st July 2010 SPORTS DEVELOPMENT COURSESDetails of the 2009-2010 Coach Education Programme, which is being delivered by the Council in partnership with Ards Sports Development Committee, are below. The programme is aimed at Sports Clubs, Schools, local community groups and individuals wishing to develop their coaching skills and experience. Coaching Methods and Communication Unlock and develop your communication skills to build and maintain a positive and effective coach/performer relationship. Learn the principles of good communication and coaching styles and how to use them to meet the needs of your performers. Junior Club Development Focuses in the creation and effective management of sports clubs for young people. In doing so, the training highlights a range of pertinent issues such as attracting membership, developing effective partnerships and sports development. First Aid Sport specific first aid courses are created for those likely to come across an accident or injury while someone is undertaking exercise. These courses develop the skills, knowledge and confidence to assist in a first aid role in any given leisure pursuit. Including People with Disabilities in your Club Training Course - New and Improved! A 7 hour course, including a mixture of theory and practical activities, aims to makes participants aware of the main barriers to participation through a range of interactive exercises and provides them with practical advice and guidance on how to make their club more inclusive. Child Protection and Awareness This workshop aims to raise awareness about child protection issues in sport and introduces participants to the code of ethics and good practice for children in sport. All adults involved in children's sport should attend. Active Leadership Active leadership is aimed at those people interested in working with groups and organising sporting activities. The training is designed to develop effective leadership and planning skills and to encourage good practice. Introduction to Cricket This course is a first step on the education pathway and gives participants the skills and knowledge to allow them to assist in their clubs or schools. It is ideal for parents or volunteers who wish to help more in their club or for school-leavers wishing to gain qualifications in cricket coaching.
