PUBLIC REGISTERS & STATUTORY RETURNS

The Council holds a number of Public Registers which are open to members of the public to view and also makes statutory returns on its work in a variety of areas to central government.

Caravan Sites
TheCouncil holds a register of licensed caravan sites in Ards. For details contact graeme.bannister@ards-council.gov.uk

Food
The Council makes an annual return on the Official Control of Foodstuffs Directive (OCFD) to the Food Standards Agency (FSA) which contains details of all our food control enforcement work (go to http://www.food.gov.uk/enforcement/ocddata/mondatabyyear ).

We also hold details of Registered Food Premises in the Ards Borough. Details of the current register can be found here .

Health & Safety
The Council provides data on the health and safety enforcement work in the workplaces which we regulate to the Health and Safety Executive for Northern Ireland (HSENI) (go to http://www.hseni.gov.uk ).

Noise
The Council completes an annual Noise Complaints Report which is returned to the Department of the Environment (DoE) (go to http://www.doeni.gov.uk/index/protect_the_environment/
local_environment_issues/noise.htm ).

Pollution Prevention & Control (PPC)
The Council issues permits under the Pollution, Prevention and Control Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2003 and information relating to the permit applications can be viewed by contacting gareth.kinnear@ards-council.gov.uk

Data on the enforcement permits on prescribed polluting industrial processes is also returned annually to the Department of the Environment (DoE)

Private Tenancies Order
An annual return is made to the Department for Social Development (DSD) on our enforcement work under the Private Tenancies Order (Housing fitness)

Tobacco Control
Details of our work on enforcing the 'smoking ban' are reproted to the Department for Health, Social Services and Public Safety (DHSSPS) (go to http://www.dhsspsni.gov.uk/index/phealth/php/health_promotion.htm ).

Water Cooling Towers and Evaporative Condensers

Waste Management
Public Registers relating to waste management activities (such as Waste Management Licensed sites, Sites Exempted from Waste Management Licensing, Registered Waste Carriers) are held by the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) and can be accessed here.

The Council also submits its 'waste arisings' figures on a quarterly basis so that our waste recycling rates and our compliance with the NI Landfill Allowances Scheme (NILAS) can be determined. The data is submitted to the Northern Ireland Environment Agency (NIEA) for approval and the figures for Ards, as well as other councils in Northern Ireland can be accessed here.
