LITTER
The Council's Environmental Services Department is responsible for regular street cleaning in the Borough and operates a scheduled sweeping system, according to four sweeping zones. Category 1 zones are cleaned on a daily basis if they are littered and category 2 and 3 zones on a three-weekly basis if they are littered. Category 4 zones are litter-picked as and when required.
The Borough Inspector's Office is responsible for dealing with illegal dumping and for issuing fixed penalty notices to people who are seen to drop litter on the streets.
