GOOD RELATIONS

In response to social and legislative change, Good Relations has replaced the area of 'Community Relations' work undertaken by the Council. It is a much broader concept, embracing ethnic minority issues, as well as those of a political and religious nature. The Council's Good Relations Programme continues to promote cross community contact and co-operation, greater mutual understanding and increased respect for different cultural traditions. The ultimate aim is the creation of an environment conducive to good relations, ensuring that local communities have the capacity and the support required to address any number of good relations issues themselves. A grant aid programme is available to help local groups devise and implement Good Relations initiatives.
