FOOD CONTROL

Environmental Health Officers ensure food premises comply with food safety legislation and they provide advice and information to those involved in the preparation, production and sale of food. They also monitor the labelling, composition and marketing of food to ensure that it complies with trading standards legislation.

Staff will carry out routine surveillance of food premises to ensure the safe production and sale of food, reduce the possibility of food borne illness and protect the consumer with regard to the composition and labelling of food. Anyone with a complaint about food they have purchased or food premises they have visited in the Ards Borough should use the details below to contact Environmental Health staff who will investigate.

Environmental Health also holds a register of food premises in the Ards Borough and the current register is available to view or download at the end of this page.

The Food Standards Agency has published The Food Safety Order 1991: A Guide for Food Businesses, which sets out the roles and responsibilities of businesses under the Order, as well as details of its enforcement. View a copy of the guide here .
