ENVIRONMENTAL HEALTH SERVICE

The role of the Council's Environmental Health Service is to control the factors in man's environment which can affect public safety and health, within the realms of the Council's statutory obligations. This is mainly achieved by enforcing environmental health legislation, empowered to the District Council by central government, and by reporting the results of that activity to Council for information or decision as appropriate. The Environmental Health Service also has an increasing role to fulfil in the field of health promotion and provision of advice to businesses and the general public, and in working partnership with other agencies to promote health and wellbeing generally.
