| Accessibility: 21st August 2008 BLUE RECYCLING BINSThe appetite of the blue bins has been growing and you can now fill your bin with an even wider range of waste. Recycling participants in Ards currently recycle over 12,000 tonnes of rubbish every year, and by the end of 2005, we had met our target of recycling 25% of household waste. But we still need to do more to ensure we divert 40% of our rubbish away from landfill sites and avoid potentially substantial fines from 20010 onwards. In a bid to increase our recycling rate and enocurage more residents to obtain and use blue bins, Ards has switched to an 'alternate weekly collection' , meaning that one week your blue bin is collected and the next week your grey bin is collected. A calendar of collections for grey and blue bins can be downloaded below. If you would like a blue bin, order one here: Request a recycling bin . What can I put in my blue bin?
