| Accessibility: 21st August 2008 ARTSBringing art to life in Ards…Ards Arts, the Council's arts development arm, has its home in Ards Arts Centre, the old Town Hall in the centre of Newtownards. The Centre has two galleries showing modern, local and international art exhibitions throughout the year and each month also plays host to a performance event in the Londonderry Room. Whether it be a musical event or drama performance, this stylish room is suitable for any event and is also available for hire to the public. Ards Arts Centre also facilitates a number of leisure art classes for adults and children including Art For Kids, Bead Jewellery Making, Patchwork, Parchment & Watercolour. Classes take place both during the day and in the evening and all welcome new members each term. We also have an exciting new Salsa Class on a Monday evening. A number of local art groups - from Ards Embroidery Guild to Ards Choral Society and Ards Historical Society - also make use of Ards Arts Centre. And there's more...Ards Arts provide lots of events and projects beyond the Centre itself. Every year at the beginning of October we hold the now famous International Guitar Festival, providing top quality concerts and workshops. Ards Arts Summer Schemes and projects involving local communities have also proved very popular and successful, with mosaics, murals and sculptures now dotted across the Ards, thanks to small community art projects.
