AIR POLLUTION

All Councils now have to assess and, where necessary, monitor and limit air pollution. Ards has been using state of the art equipment to see just how high air pollution levels are in Newtownards. There are a total of eight monitoring sites in Newtownards with specialist equipment located at Ards Leisure Centre. The Council had declared an air quality management area on the basis of air quality modelling. Monitoring carried out in the area has shown that the levels are below those which were predicted.
