SLIMMING GAINS MOMENTUM AT ARDS

Slimming has gained 'momentum' at Ards Leisure Centre following the launch of a new 'SlimGym' programme, combining use of the Centre's Momentum fitness suite with nutrition plans from Unislim.

The 6 week programme is the result of a new partnership between Ards Borough Council and Unislim which aims to help people change their lifestyles and to become fitter, slimmer, healthier and happier as a result.

"Our expertise is in fitness and Unislim's is in diet and nutrition, so by combining the two in this way, we are encouraging people who would like to be healthier to do it in the right way - by combining sensible eating with sensible exercise," said Aaron Bell from Momentum Fitness. "The idea is that those taking part in the SlimGym programme will feel encouraged and motivated to maintain the routine in the long-term and that is all to the good of their general well-being".

The SlimGym programme went live at the same time as Stephen Nolan's 'Dead Fat' programme on BBC 1 which focuses on the obesity problem in Northern Ireland - and Unislim ambassador and training officer, Nicola Bleakley from Newtownards, took part in the show.

Nicola lost 7 stone herself when she was 18 using Unislim and Momentum Fitness and said:

"I lost my 7 stone by using both UniSlim and Momentum Fitness. No one knows better than me how important both diet and exercise are. UniSlim really taught me about the right food to eat and their classes gave me the motivation to see it through. Equally the staff at Momentum set me on the right course of exercise to lose weight and keep it off."
