NEW MEMBERS APPOINTED TO ARDS DPP

Three new independent members have been appointed to Ards District Policing Partnership (DPP) with a further six re-appointed to work alongside the Partnership's ten political representatives.

The appointments, effective from 1st April, were made by the Northern Ireland Policing Board and their announcement has been welcomed by Councillor Alan McDowell, Chairman of Ards DPP, said:

"I am pleased to be welcoming three new members to the DPP, as well as six members who have been re-appointed," said Councillor McDowell. "The independent members bring a broad range of opinions, experience, and backgrounds to our work and, together with the political members nominated by the Council, help to ensure that we can influence policing to best meet the needs of the local community. All of the independent members who have stepped forward to serve alongside political colleagues, have shown their commitment to this primary aim".

Councillor McDowell also paid tribute to out-going members:

"I would like also to thank the retiring DPP members, who have contributed significantly to the work of the DPP on behalf of the local community and I know that they will continue to play an active role in policing and other local issues".

The new members of Ards DPP are Mr John Gibson, Mrs Elizabeth Moore and Ms Lesley Johnston and the re-appointed members are Ms Florence Ambrose, Mrs Irene Boyd, Mrs Donna Hamilton, Mrs Lisa Boyd, Mrs Elaine McVeigh and Mrs Margaret McGuigan.
