Our official race charity for 2010 is Northern Ireland Hospice - a local charity caring for adults, children and young people with life-limiting and life-threatening illness.
Services include: adult Hospice services, children's Hospice services, care at home, family support and education and research.
Hospice provides 24 hour, 365 days a year palliative care in its Somerton Road adult's Hospice and Horizon House children's Hospice. It also has a strong presence in the community with the majority of patients cared for, in their own homes.
Hospice care is much more than pain and symptom control, the charity offers a range of services that add real value to the lives of both patients and families living within the shadow of a terminal illness.
There is no charge for Hospice care; it is on available on a needs basis. Costing over £8 million each year to provide this vital service to Northern Ireland, the charity receives limited funding from the government and so relies heavily on voluntary support from the community through events such as Ards Half Marathon.
Please show your support for Northern Ireland Hospice by asking friends and family to sponsor your participation in Ards Half Marathon and do something AMAZING in Ards this summer for Northern Ireland Hospice.
