CASUAL COACH (2010)

Wage rate: To be agreed by the Manager

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Casual Coach will be responsible for:

1. Supervising and coaching the Centre's customers including school

parties and similar groups.

2. Instruction in the safe and beneficial use of equipment where

appropriate.

3. Development of customer's progress.

4. Implementing and complying with all the declared policies and

procedures of the Council.

5. Performing all duties in a safe and proper manner and in accordance

with the Council's Health and Safety policies as laid down and by the

Health and Safety at Work (NI) Order 1978 and other relevant

legislation.

6. Undertaking any other duties as may be allocated including

interchange of duties to cover for leave, sickness and employee

vacancies etc.

PERSONNEL SPECIFICATION

Applicants must be members of the relevant coaching body and have previous coaching experience.

Applicants must demonstrate on their application form how they meet the requirements of the post. Please note the above criteria may be enhanced to facilitate shortlisting.

If you are invited to interview you will be required to bring both the original copy of your qualifications and proof of identity with you. Failure to bring these documents will result in the unfortunate cancellation of your interview.

Conditions of Appointment

General

The general terms and conditions of employment applying to this post are those recommended by the National Joint Council for Local Government Services as adopted and amended by Ards Borough Council from time to time for casual employees.

Qualifications

You will be required to produce official original proof of any qualifications relevant to your employment.

Council Policies

The postholder will be required to comply with all relevant council policies. Copies of the main Policies are included in the Induction booklet and a full list is available from the Human Resources Section. You should read them carefully and ensure that you are aware of your duties and obligations. You will also be required to comply with further policies as they are introduced.

Hours of Duty

There are no guaranteed hours for the post. The number of hours you will be required to work depends on the Council's requirements and your availability.

Pay Rate

The wage rate for the post is as agreed by the Centre Manager. The wages will be paid weekly, in arrears, directly to the employees' bank or building society account through the Bankers Automated Clearing System. Arrears will only be paid to former employees who have requested in writing, before their termination date, payment for any back dated monies which are or become due to them.

Annual leave and public holidays

Please note that you may be eligible to an annual leave entitlement. Your entitlement will be calculated by your line manager. For your information the leave year runs from April to March of each year.
