Join Artists and Makers in a celebration of creativity around the Ards.  See, meet and engage with them in their own studios, at exhibitions, at workshops, at Creative Cafes or at the Craft in the Square event - when Conway Square in Newtownards is transformed into a craft village to kick start the programme on Friday 1 August.

Craft in the Square

1 August 2014, 10am-7pm

Conway Square, Newtownards

Craft in the Square launches the Creative Peninsula 2014 when a specially created tented craft village plays host to more than 20 local Artists and Makers, all gathered to showcase and sell their work, give demonstrations, and chat about what inspires them.

 

Art on the Rails

Paintings and drawings will be hung from specially erected railings outside Ards Arts Centre as part of the Craft in the Square event, with every art work available to buy and take home on the spot 

Seize this fantastic opportunity to buy a one-off piece of artwork!

Alfresco Sunday Art!

3 August 2014, 2pm-5pm

Mount Stewart, Portaferry Road, Newtownards

Aspiring artists have the opportunity to experience ‘Art Alfresco’ in special outdoor workshops led by local professional artists, set in the scenic surroundings of Mount Stewart

Improve your painting and sketching skills at these inspirational outdoor workshops!

 

Workshops

Makers from across the Ards Peninsula will be demonstrating their craft, giving participants tips on artistic techniques as well as a ‘hands on’ experience making their own piece of art work to take home.

Try your hand at making at one  - or more! – of these creative workshops!

 

Creative Cafes

4-7 August, locations across Ards

Craft and coffee combine in one of the Creative Peninsula’s newest initiative, ‘Creative Cafes’, which offer participants the opportunity to give making a try in a ceramic, calligraphy or clay making workshop led by an experienced local Artist or Maker, whilst enjoying a cuppa and a slice of cake in one of the Peninsula’s finest coffee shops. 

A perfect combination for coffee and craft lovers!

Open Studio Weekend

7-10 August, 10am-4pm

Visitors are invited to visit Artists and Makers in their own studios throughout the Ards Borough, as they give demonstrations and chat about what inspires them.

Kid’s Design Challenge

2 August 2014, 11am-3pm

Suitable for children aged 8-11 years.

Kids have the exciting opportunity to create their own piece of craft based on a specially designed Creative Peninsula workbook and a selection of materials.

Bring your kids along to have a go at making and its free!

 

Creative Development Seminars

A series of creative development seminars for Artists and Makers exploring business development initiatives, from branding to exporting.

Come along and learn how to make making your business!
